Probate Law

Ray Jahn’s career began in 1968 after graduating from the University of Texas. Soon after, he joined the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., where he worked under William Sessions. Sessions, recognizing Jahn’s talents and dedication, brought him to San Antonio in 1972 when he became U.S. Attorney. This partnership with Sessions helped shape Jahn’s career and establish him as a key figure in the Department of Justice.

Ray Jahn’s extensive career with the Department of Justice is marked by his pivotal involvement in some of the most controversial and politically charged cases in modern U.S. history. His experience spans four decades, during which he worked alongside his wife, LeRoy Jahn, who had a distinguished career with the Justice Department as well.

Their most notable joint efforts include significant roles in the Branch Davidian case and the Whitewater investigation, both of which were highly politicized and captured the national spotlight. In addition to those cases, he was integral in preparing the 1974 tax-evasion case against South Texas political boss George Parr, a landmark case in the fight against corruption. Another key achievement in their careers was the successful prosecution of Charles Harrelson, actor Woody Harrelson’s father, in 1982. Despite the case being largely circumstantial, their efforts led to Harrelson’s conviction for the assassination of U.S. District Judge John H. Wood.

For his exceptional efforts, the Department of Justice awarded Ray the prestigious John Marshall Award for Outstanding Criminal Prosecutor in 1982.

While serving as a professor of law at St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas, Ray met Frances Bennett, one of the school’s most outstanding students.

After the passing of his wife, LeRoy, in 2020, Frances reached out to Ray for assistance with the litigation aspects of probate. This marked the beginning of Ray’s involvement with the firm, and he has since become an integral part of helping clients navigate the complexities of probate matters.
